you pretend is so serious and earnest. For that is not pure and perfect, which is tainted by self-seeking. Ask not for that which is delightful and profitable to you, but for that which is acceptable to Me, and tends to my honor. For if you judge rightly, you ought to prefer and follow My appointment, rather than your own desire, or anything that is desired.
I know your desire, and have heard your many groanings. Already you will to be in “the glorious freedom of the children of God”.† Already you delight in the everlasting home, and the heavenly country which is full of joy.  But that hour is not yet come. There remains still another time, and that a time of war, a time of labor and of trial. You desire to be filled with the supreme Good, but you cannot attain it at once. “I am”;† wait for Me (says the Lord) “until the kingdom of God comes”.†
You are still to be tried on the earth and to be exercised in many things. Comfort will sometimes be given, but not in its abundant fullness. “Be strong and very courageous”,† in doing as well as enduring things contrary to nature. It is your duty to “put on the new self”,† and to be changed into another person.† It is your duty often to do what you would not; and what you would do, it is your duty to leave.
